Le Deshayes is an old farming settlement, probably dating back over 500 years. The various buildings housed a number of small farms and their numerous farm workers. These days only one farm remains operational with over 100 head of milking cows. Whilst the farm is well away from the Gite, the farmer uses the field adjacent to the owner’s house for his nursing cows and their very young calves.

The Gite is situated about a mile from Cerisy la Salle. The village sums up the quality of life in this part of France as it maintains an amazing range of shops and services: two bakeries, a bar, a post office, a butchers, a bank with an ATM, two mini-supermarkets, a pharmacy, a florist, an ironmongers, a garage and a hairdressers. There is also a delightful church, a doctor’s surgery, a tourist information office and a small market on Saturdays.

The beautiful cathedral town of Coutances is six miles away and provides a wide range of shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as a number of large supermarkets offering just about everything you might need – including, of course, an excellent range of wines, beers and ciders!

Located in the heart of Normandy , Le Deshayes is easily reached from the northern French ferry ports, with Caen and Cherbourg the nearest, about one hour away.

The closest airport is Dinard serviced by Ryanair from East Midlands, Stansted or Bristol. Click here for more information on how to get to the Gite.

“The best Gite we have had the pleasure of staying in. We loved the attention to detail and comfort. We will definitely be returning. To be recommended.”
