A great way to get a feel of a country is to visit their local markets and France is no exception. Most reasonable sized villages and towns have a weekly market – not just for the tourists but part of the everyday life of the local residents.
Our local village, Cerisy la Salle has a small market on Saturday mornings – around six stalls selling fruit and veg, fresh fish and French style hot-dogs!

At larger markets, such as Villedieu on a Tuesday, you can buy just about anything – great fun!
There are also a number of Brocantes (flea markets) and Vide Grenier (literally attic sales, similar to car boot sales) held usually at weekends, as well as numerous country fairs and fetes.
Details of the markets and events are in the Gite information folder.
