Dinard Airport (1½ hrs )
We favour the route out of the airport over the Ranche Barrage – more straight forward and interesting than the alternatives!
Leave the airport and at the T-junction turn left onto D64. At the next junction, turn right onto D168. Continue on this dual carriageway over a roundabout, through traffic lights and down over the Ranche Barrage, a hydro electric installation using the power of the tides. As you go up the hill on the other side, watch out for the speed camera!
Go past the first exit and take the next one onto the N137. following signs for Rennes , Fougères, Mont-Saint-Michel , Alençon, Caen and Dol-de-Bretagne. After about 10km – 6 miles, take the exit for Fougères, Mont-Saint-Michel and Caen , the N176. Careful as you join this road as there is a stop sign, no slip road – quite dangerous.
Continue on the N176 as it becomes the N175, watching your speed through the built-up areas and past the cameras. Follow signs to Caen and Avranches as the road joins the A84. Follow this road around Avranches and out into the countryside. Take Exit 37 off the A84, marked for Villedieu-les-Poêles, Coutances and Gavray. Take first right off roundabout. At the next two roundabouts take second exits, following signs for Gavray, D9. You cross over the motorway and head off into the countryside. Continue on this road, past the huge wind turbine and down the hill into Gavray. Careful around the bends down the hill and watch out for the town / 50km speed limit sign. Turn right at the junction by the bridge, crossing the bridge and going past the shops. When you have gone past the small, tree lined square on your right, take the next decent sized right turn - the D38 marked for St Denis le Gast and Notre Dame de Cenilly . This is just before the main market square in Gavray.
Follow this road to St Denis le Gast, where you cross over a main road at a slightly staggered junction, and onwards through Saint Martin de Cenilly and towards Notre Dame de Cenilly . In Notre Dame continue on the D38, marked to Canisy, ignoring signs to Cerisy la Salle! Continue out of the village and down the hill into Pont Brocard. Take the left turn to Cerisy la Salle, D52 up the hill. You will go past a turning on your left and at the top of the hill bear left past the corner of our field!
Immediately past the first house on the right, turn right and the Gite is the next building on the right. Please drive through the gated entrance and onto the drive. Our house is next door so please ring the doorbell and we’ll put the kettle on!
The whole journey takes approximately 90 minutes but please don’t hesitate to ring us if you get lost or stuck anywhere – Tel: 0033 233 478735 (if ringing from an English mobile).
