The Gite is only 25 minutes away from some great beaches, offering miles of beautiful sand, ideal for days out or relaxing walks.

The two main beaches are at Agon-Coutainville and Hauteville-sur-Mer. Both have promenades leading to sand dunes and offer a range of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Agon-Coutainville is our favourite, but does get very busy, especially at weekends, as it is popular with the locals, the many Parisians who have second homes in the area and, of course, British tourists.

Swimming in the sea is regarded as safe, although the tide goes out a long way, exposing vast beds of shell fish. These are harvested by teams using tractors and trailers that become little dots on the horizon!

Further around the coast are dramatic cliffs and coastal walks – something for everyone!
