PLEASE TAKE CARE: A new law in France has outlawed speed camera warnings on sat navs - so make sure you disable the facility on your sat navs before you drive off the ferry. As the fine can be as high as 1,500 euros it will be well worth the effort!

Latest News : The French government requires all car drivers to have a breathalyser in their car from the beginning of July. These will be available from supermarkets and will cost around 1-1½ euros. It is recommended that everyone has two in their cars, so if one is used, say, after going to a restaurant then there is still an unused one and you won't be breaking the law! It is typical of French society to put the responsibility for making sure you aren't over the drink/drive limits onto the individual and we will all have to get used to checking that we are okay to drive before we set off. Hopefully the ferry companies will stock the breathalysers in time for the July start date - we will monitor the situation and keep you informed.
